Zero Pilnik is an actor and writer dividing their time between São Paulo and Berlin. They have performed on the stages of Ballhaus Ost, Volksbühne, and Maxim Gorki, and appeared in films and television series including Colônia (Canal Brasil, 2026), The Trouble Out There (2024), and Last Call Blue (2024), winner of the Next Generation Short Tiger Award. They write for both theatre and film. Their credits include the short films I Mind a Little Bit (2025) and Matter(2022), as well as the musical Gasoline Queen (2022). During a literary residency at Goyki 3 Art Inkubator in 2021, they wrote the pilot for Brutes, a queer fantasy western. The project was nominated for an award at the 2023 Seriencamp Conference. That same year, they were a finalist at the Berlin TV Series Festival, where they presented Silver Future, a dramedy inspired by their experiences in Berlin’s underground drag scene. In 2025, they returned to Seriencamp to present the romantic comedy series Erika. After graduating from CalArts, Zero participated in the Serial Eyes and Torino Film Lab programmes. They have received fellowships from the Berlin Senate, Akademie der Künste, and LABA Berlin, and were awarded the 2017 Tim Disney Prize. They are currently writing the libretto for a new opera, which will premiere in Münster in 2027 with support from the Fonds Experimentelles Musiktheater.
