She was born in Guarani das Missões, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She graduated in Philology from UNIJUÍ and, in 2009, obtained a PhD in Humanities, specialising in Literary Studies, from the University of Warsaw. Her doctoral thesis focused on the life and work of Samuel Rawet. Until 2000, she taught Portuguese, Brazilian literature and teaching methodology in Brazil. From 2000 to 2008, she was a lecturer in Portuguese, Brazilian literature and culture at the University of Warsaw, having been appointed by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2005 to 2023, she worked at the Institute of Philology at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland, where she taught Brazilian literature, culture and translation studies. She is the author of numerous academic and journalistic publications and the co-editor of the 2007 anthology Intymność i inne sfery and the 2010 book on Samuel Rawet. She specialises in translating Brazilian prose. She has received the honourary citizenship of the city of Santo Ângelo (2001) and the title of Honorary Friend of Ruy Barbosa Secondary School No. 50 in Warsaw (2008).
