Morgado

He is a Portuguese author, comics writer, editor and teacher. His work moves between comics, children’s literature, literary adaptation and editorial projects, often exploring Portuguese culture, memory, humour and the dialogue between literature and visual storytelling. He is a co-founder of A Seita, one of Portugal’s most active comics publishing houses, dedicated to publishing both Portuguese and international authors. As a writer, he is the author of several comics and children’s books, including A Vida Oculta de Fernando Pessoa, a graphic novel that reimagines one of Portugal’s greatest literary figures and has received several editions and nominations for major awards such as the Prêmio Jabuti and the HQMix, in Brazil. He also wrote O Infeliz Pacto de George Walden, which won Best Portuguese Script at Vinheta 2020 (Portugal). His work as an adapter includes important figures and texts from Portuguese literature authors, such as Almeida Garrett, Pêro Vaz de Caminha and Guerra Junqueiro, bringing classic literary material into contemporary comics language. His books published in Poland include A Aventura do Sapo: Caos e Coaxos and A Vida Oculta de Fernando Pessoa, as well as his comics adaptation of Almeida Garrett’s Frei Luís de Sousa. Alongside his work as an author and editor, he is also a teacher and develops projects around storytelling, comics writing and literary education.
