He is a writer and curator of photography exhibitions. His book Dno oka. Eseje o fotografii (2010) was a finalist for the 2011 Nike Literary Award. In 2012, it received the Polish Association of Book Publishers' Award, while Salki (2013) won the Gdynia Literary Prize in the essay category. He has also published the essay collections Odbicie (2015) and Tuż obok, which is an essay on photographic deception. His most recent book, Cieśniny (2019), was nominated for the 2020 Gdynia Literary Prize in the prose category; following its publication, he received the Julian Tuwim Award for lifetime achievement. He is also the author of numerous photography monographs, including Jerzy Lewczyński. Pamięć obrazu (2012), Zofia Rydet. Zapis socjologiczny (2017), Plewiński. Na scenie (2018), and Plewiński. Reportaż (2021). He published culinary reviews in the Krakow edition of Gazeta Wyborcza for over fifteen years. He lives in Kraków, is married, and has a daughter.
