A reporter and publicist, Kalina is also a graduate of film studies and journalism at the Jagiellonian University. From 2013 to 2016, she was editor at Tygodnik Powszechny with which she still collaborates today. Nominated for many journalism awards, she has won, just to name a few, the Tersesa Torańska Newsweek Award for young journalists and the Grand Prix of the Małopolska Journalists' Award. Her first book Uparte serce. Biografia Poświatowskiej (Znak 2014) was in the final of the Gryfia Literary Award, and was also awarded the title of Krakow's Book of the Month. Her latest book, the historical reportage Bezduszni. Zapomniana zagłada chorych (Czarne 2023) was awarded the Polityka weekly Historical Award.
