Writers often find themselves caught between two conflicting ideals. On one side, there’s the romantic myth of the suffering artist, who should remain unconcerned with financial matters. On the other side, the reality of the literary market reveals that writers are among the least legally protected professionals. Yet, without writers, there would be no publishing houses, bookstores, libraries, or audiobooks.

Recognizing this imbalance, the Literary Union, in collaboration with the Polish Literary Translators Association and other organizations, is advocating for crucial reforms. These include updating systems related to royalties from library loans and fair compensation for online reproductions, ensuring writers receive the remuneration they deserve
