The City of Sopot

Sopot is a city of inspiration… This is why great care is taken to support both cultural creators and their audiences. A rich and modern cultural infrastructure, the work of cultural institutions, and numerous non-governmental organizations contribute to this, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to the city.

During the summer season, Sopot offers a wide range of festivals and cultural events, including the Sopot Film Festival, Sopot Classic – a festival of classical music, the Literary Sopot Festival, and Sopot Non-Fiction, dedicated to documentary theater. The city is also home to several theater stages, such as Teatr Boto and the Scena Kameralna of the Wybrzeże Theatre. The National Gallery of Art is one of the most important galleries in Poland, while Art Incubator serves as both a creative workspace for artists and a gathering place for Sopot’s residents.

Goyki 3 Art Inkubator

Goyki 3 Art Inkubator is a local government cultural institution in Sopot. Its primary mission is to foster and promote culture, provide cultural education, and support creative communities. The Art Inkubator focuses on building networks of collaboration between local and international artists, organizing artist residencies, and developing creative work programs. The institution also documents cultural phenomena, while actively promoting the culture and history of Sopot. Goyki 3 Art Inkubator is housed in the historic Jüncke Villa at 3 Jakub Goyki Street in Sopot. This 1894 mansion, complete with a viewing tower open to visitors, accommodates artists’ studios, office and multipurpose spaces, as well as two specialized workshops: a screen-printing studio and a darkroom. These spaces are available to artists for project development, in accordance with the regulations published on the institution’s website. The ground floor features an exhibition hall, a display space within the historic fireplace room, and a reading room where visitors can explore an art book collection.

The director of Goyki 3 Art Inkubator is Joanna Cichocka-Gula, who is also the founder of the Sopot by the Book festival. Marta Czarnecka, deputy director of Goyki 3 Art Inkubator, serves as the director of Sopot by the Book.
