He graduated in philosophy, journalism, and social communication from Jagiellonian University. He is an editor, literary critic, and co-founder of the online magazine Dwutygodnik, where he served as the first editor of the literary section. Kurkiewicz also co-founded Książki. Magazyn do czytania and was its editor-in-chief between 2018 and 2024. From 2009 to 2014, he served as the secretary of the Nike Award. He has published hundreds of reviews in Tygodnik Powszechny, Zeszyty Literackie, Gazeta Wyborcza, Rzeczpospolita, and Polityka. His work features interviews with authors such as Julian Barnes, George Saunders, Kazuo Ishiguro, Elizabeth Strout, Hanif Kureishi, Hanya Yanagihara, and Michael Cunningham. Kurkiewicz won the Konstanty Jeleński Prize for his essay writing.
