Translator and Romanian language lecturer. She graduated in Romanian philology from Jagiellonian University in Kraków. With a passion for literary translation, she has translated works by some of Romania’s most esteemed writers, including Max Blecher, Mircea Cărtărescu, Dan Lungu, Ioan Es. Pop, Matei Vișniec, and Varujan Vosganian. She received the ‘European Poet of Freedom’ Gdańsk Literary Award for her translation of Ana Blandiana’s poetry collection Moja ojczyzna A4 (Romanina: Patria mea A4, 2016) and the Angelus Central European Literature Award for translating Varujan Vosganian’s The Book of Whispers (2016). In 2017, she was honoured with the Translator’s Award by the Romanian cultural-literary magazine Observator Cultural for outstanding achievements in translating Romanian literature into a foreign language. In 2018, alongside Jakub Kornhauser, she was a finalist for the ‘European Poet of Freedom’ Gdańsk Literary Award for her translation of Moldovan poet Dumitru Crudu’s Fałszywy Dymitr (Romanian: Falsul Dimitrie Crudu).
