Art historian, critic, and journalist, as well as the organizer and curator of numerous exhibitions. She is also the author of scholarly articles and essays on art, published in both domestic and international outlets. From 1993 to 2000, she served as the director of the Zachęta - National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, and since 1998, she has been the chairperson of the Foundation of the Institute for Art Promotion. She is the author of works such as: Sztuka w Polsce 1945–2005 (2005), Przeciąg: Teksty o sztuce polskiej lat 80. (2009), Rottenberg. Już trudno (2014, with Dorota Jarecka), Berlińska depresja. Dziennik (2018), Lista. Dziennik 2005 (2019), and Zbliżenia. Szkice o polskich artystach (2020). She has been nominated for both the Nike Literary Award and the Gdynia Literary Prize. In December 2024, her latest book, Schyłek. Dziennik 2019-2022, was published by OsnoVa.
